Hi, Iím True Blue. Thatís because (1) Iím an Aussie and (2) I support the Carlton Football Club Ė which will mean absolutely nothing to non-Aussies.

Iím a fan because of Lauren but for reasons even I donít fully understand I feel equally passionate about the collective Storm.

I know a little about basketball (used to play it very badly), nothing about Seattle and only what I have been able to glean from this forum about the Storm. But I donít let ignorance stop me and for the last two or so years Iíve been regularly posting absolute rubbish. My only redeeming virtue is that I have the sensitivity of a water buffalo, so if you feel like venting at somebody, Iím your man.

And I guess one other possible virtue is my courage in that, every so often, I sneak over to the dark side (LA Sparks) and bring back a report of whatever wickedness is happening over there.

Phew! Wasn't that brave of me to go first.

OK, I'm next...

Howdy!  I'm Jimmy K.  The K is short for Kentwood.  That's not my real name, it's the name I picked during my college years when I was a DJ at the campus station.  I wanted a name similar to a local radio person, and picked Kentwood because at the time, I was a Britney Spears fan.  Boy how stupid people can be when they're 20...and that was just 5 years ago...  Anyway, I use that name for lots of internet stuff and whenever I play games on my computer.

I'm a Tennessee fan in almost everything.  Since I live in the northeast corner of the state, it makes sense.  I'm a racing fan, too, simply because the best track on the circuit is located a few miles from my house.

It is all Pat Summitt's fault I like women's basketball as much as I do.  I started watching games way back in the Michelle Marciniak years.  I saw all three of the first-ever three-peat championship games, and I've been watching them ever since.  I even said that I'd have given the football national championship (won on January 4, 1999, the first ever BCS national championship game) back to see Kellie and Chamique win their fourth.

I came to the Storm because Sue Bird went to UConn.  Go figure, but one evening my best friend and I were out running around, talking about people that were cute.  So, I started talking about this girl from UConn that kept running all over Tennessee.  But I forgot her name for the longest time, until near the end of the run to Johnson City, when I suddenly remembered her name.

I looked her up that night, and a new Stormfan was born.  I liked the team name since I'm a weather nut.  So there are two good things.  I was hooked by the mascot's name.  Doppler.  Before long, I found some site, the first thing listed on a Yahoo search for Seattle Storm, called stormfans.org.

The rest is history.  Now I'm a full-scale Storm fan.  I've got three Birdy jerseys, a Semeka Randall jersey, a Birdy bobble, something like 70 Birdy giveaway cards (if you want one, IM me and I'll send you one), both of Birdy's rookie cards, a Storm tag, car flag, foam finger, a Lin Dunn bobble, a Birdy coffee mug, and lots of other Storm stuff.  Suffice it to say that there's more Storm in my room than Tennessee.  Except that my bedroom walls are Tennessee orange.   Grin

Finally, Blue reminded me of a silly song, because I'm a big VeggieTales fan.  It goes:

Everybody's got a water buffalo,
Yours is fast but mine is slow.
Where we get them I don't know,
But everybody's got a water buffalo oooo-oh-ooo-oh.

Sorry, I had to do it.  Now back to your regularly scheduled introductions.

Lin Dunn has the best har(I mean hair) †Now that I admitted that piece of information, onward to a snapshot of djshorty!

Check, Check, 1.....2...3..... *checks the microphone* This is your friendly, witty, multitasking djshorty coming to you live from my college's online radio staion, which can be found underneath all my posts in this forum.

I have two semesters left before I graduate from College. If you would like to send me fan mail for my radio show to read on the air, please do so.

Ever since 2000, I started tracking the Storm on my imaginary doppler radar to see if any thunderstorms were headed towards my house. †Suddenly, the winds started changing, the rain slowly trickled off into the streets, and They were vastly improving. †

In 2001, Linn Dunn drafted Lauren Jackson out of Australia, and thus the team started getting a whole lot better! I kept reading about her and how good she was! This girl is a beast!! Go Loz!!

Plus, Seattle has the best fans in the WNBA!! I know this, cause I have experienced the excitement of Key Arena. I watched †L J score 34 points, a career best. And the MVP Chants were already starting!

2002: They drafted Bird out of the University of Connecticut, thus, I was hooked on the Storm.

I wander over to the monarchs team page every once in awhile, their a favorite of mine, but the Storm are my No. 1 WNBA team.

However, now that Taurasi is in a Mercury uniform, I'll be wandering over to their team page a lot too.

And as one of the forum members put it: "Shorty, never ever stop posting here."

In a nutshell, check out my livejournal: http://www.livejournal.com/users/djshorty/

I use it to talk about my online radio show, and other ramblings and I love the old Saturday Night Live and the new episodes too.

Mom: "Julie, what are you doing up there"
Julie(Gildna Radner): Nothing, Mom. Smiley

In a nutshell, I'm a hardworking, carefree, outgoing college student, who loves both men's and women's college basketball, NBA, WNBA, Rugby, Soccer,  and sometimes baseball.  I still need a shirt that says: got dj?  Cheesy

I'm a mild example of what could happen to you if you keep hanging out here.  I say mild, because I maintain my Liberty loyalty, despite being threatened with bodily harm.  But now I like to keep an eye on the Storm (okay, so it helps they acquired a couple of players I've got a soft spot for- always did like Sandy Brondello and admired Adia Barnes for perservering).  I like to think I provide some balance to the board Grin

If it weren't for the WNBA, I would never have gotten into sports.  If it hadn't been for mom channel-surfing back in '97 and then dragging me off to the Garden for the Liberty home opener, I wouldn't have gotten into the WNBA.  Now I follow baseball, pro and college basketball of both genders, football, hockey, and some soccer.  I'm loyal to my New York teams, but I'm willing to root for a friend's team if they're playing someone else.

When not obsessing over basketball... er, wait.  When not single-mindedly obsessing over basketball, I'm a student with a minimum of four years to go in school.  Huzza and hurrah.  Tongue  When desperately trying to avoid schoolwork, I'm on the boards at several sites, or I'm writing.  I've got a LiveJournal here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/nycscribbler, in which I post thoughts, quotes, and the occasional piece of fanfiction.  I also have a website: http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/candygirl/index.html (warnings for some content).  I love to talk hoops and other interests.  Drop me a line, 'cause if you're a Stormfan, you gotta be some kind of cool.

My name is Kemikal. Kem is short, I mean Kem for short.

Previously: Die hard Blazers fan (Brisbane Blazers that was...) until they folded. Was a Detroit fan until Bronds got shipped to Miami, became a Sol fan, until they folded...

Currently: I am a uni-bum (aka student) who:- works part-time; coaches U12 girls basketball; also coaches District 4 Women's Hockey (muhahahaha I am an undefeated Hockey coach... possibly only until the 25th of April when the girls play their 2nd game of the season); is party-hardy; loves Seattle Storm (obviously), Sandy Brondello, Ruth Riley, & Duke WBB; likes Bulleen Boomers; hates mushy vegies that aren't meant to be mushy;

How I started my stormfandom: 2001 I followed Vealy to Phoenix, Penny to Rockers and Loz to Storm... (in that order) and well somehow Loz grew on me, and once Vealy stopped playing I turned from her and my attention wasn't as diverted.

Future: Will one day make it to Seattle to party hard with the Stormfans, y'all sound like decent folk.

Howdy, I'm StorminInCali or just plain ol' SiC.  I'm not really a hippie but I play one on TV.

Reside in Cali, support Seattle and will one day eventually make the move up there to become Jezzie's cabana girl.  That's my ambition.

Came here following Birdy from UConn, Kate introduced me to this board and here is where I've been ever since, much to the chagrin of some.   Tongue

I became a fan when a friend of mine worked at Sears and got some tix to a Storm game because it was Sear's breat cancer health awareness night.  My first game and many more to come, I was instantly hooked. It also didn't hurt that they whooped the Mercury that night.

I started looking on the internet for some info on this team and came to this site. And the rest is history.
I have become a huge fan of women's pro and college basketball.

The people on this forum have extended my knowledge of women's basketball farther than I could ever imagine. And I thank all of you guys for making this forum a great part of my life!

<Stepping up the mic>

Hi, I'm Alison.  I live in central CT.  Now, before you start thinking that I started follow the Storm when Sue got drafted, it ain't true.  I started follow the 12-step Storm program when LJ was drafted.  (I just had to find out who the heck this kid was when word got out that she'd go 1st in the 2001 draft).  I was hooked at the first shot.

I love sports (well, thanks in part to my sports nut other half).  Besides WBB, I love hockey (Habs all the way!), swimming (I swam competitively 6yrs old till 21 yrs old), & my beloved NY Yankees.

I've haven't been to Seattle..yet.  I've been to only one Storm game, when they came to CT last year.   I was psyched to hand slap LJ  Grin but was bummed Simone wouldn't show me the shimmy when I ran into her in the foyer of the arena.  Cry  McHuskyfan was kind enough to show me how it was done after she walked away.

Hmmmmm..that's about it.

OMG I'm still in shock and horror that there is somebody else in the world who was a Brisbane Blazers fan!!  Just my luck they folded the year I finally moved to Brisbane and only got to see a couple games.

I played bball at school, but got really hooked on women's basketball at the 94 Women's World Champs in Aust

Most memorable basketball moments:

1. Being sat on by Rachel Sporn when the Blazers were playing Adelaide out at Carina - note: If possible sitting pretty much under the basket should be left to the towel kids who are much better trained to get out of the way.

2. The Russia v Australia Quarter final at 96 games - it went down to the wire.. a huge Whittle hook shot.. Timmsy getting into a fight in the final seconds.. it had everything

3. The Diva losing her hair in the gold medal game in 2000 - ahhh we got crapped on but that made it all okay.

As you might have guessed I'm from Australia, Brisbane to be exact.  Don't have a paticular WNBL team now the Blazers are gone.

In the WNBA I guess I followed the Mercury when Timmsy first went there... then I followed Bronds to the Shock.  But where Bronds goes I follow, so then I followed her to the Sol and now here I am with the Storm.  With Spag's career starting to wind down (sniff) I can see myself sticking with the Storm.  Hey when the colours are green and gold how can you go wrong!

In every other sport I'm a Brisbane/Queensland fan.  Go (insert Bullets, Lions, Broncos, Reds, Bulls, Strikers, Firebirds)!!!!

Well that's about it from me!

Well, I went to Caps after Brisbane folded (so I stuck through their bad days too)... but now I live near Bulleen and those girls are quality... you should follow Bulleen too!! Cheesy

Hey guys,

Im jced_tramonte

Came to this board right when the season ended because this is the first place ive found that talks basketball and not looks..

I grew up in Houston so I sorta watched the league because they pummeled everyone for 4 years but... I wasnt a huge fan until......

I went to Pristina Kosovo. We had 83 channels in albanian and 3 in English the AFN stations. So I watched the sports one all the time.. Well at the time they only had the Who Am I ad's. But they only had one Sue's...

That dang ad drove me nuts...

"I love the pull up jumper I gotta say"

"I love it when you call me big papa"

I HATED Sue. Well one night I said to myself fine Ill watch her next game which happened to be the WNBA All Star game her rookie year... Ya the one were she didnt have the best showing lol...

Well I proceeded to go to work the next day and just tear her to pieces and everyone agreed (We were all annoyed)

Except for one guy....

Who wouldnt talk to me.. He was are newest second Leuitenant who I soon found out graduated from UCONN in 2000...

Well after me and him talked he proceeded to give me over 30 tapes his wife sent him of Sue at UCONN and Ive been hooked ever since.... LJ and others have intensified why I love this league and hope it sticks...
