you're welcome, gentree13  Smiley

sad news though, U.S. Defender Ali Krieger tears ACL and MCL in right knee

http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Womens-National-Team/2012/01/US-Defender-Krieger-Te...

ugh, this reminds me of the time when Lindsay Tarpley tore her ACL just prior to last year's World Cup and also of  Abby Wambach breaking her left leg right before the 2008 Olympics.  so unfortunate... Sad

eta:
thoughts and prayers for Ali's recovery and for the rest of the team to remain healthy and safe...

I must be getting old. The first person I thought of when I read about Ali's injury was Shannon MacMillan.

I feel like we're hearing about more and more acl tears, especially in women.

You're not old, you just have a very good memory Wink But if it would make you feel better, I remember Shannon McMillan too Smiley

Yeah, these ACL tears occurence, especially in women...Undecided  Heather Mitts also had it prior to World Cup 2007 if I'm not mistaken.  Also Leslie Osbourne, I think Sad

Mission accomplished!  Congrats to these hard-working athletes  Smiley

Kudos also to Costa Rica for their impressive effort!

So excited for Alex Morgan.  It'll be her first Olympics.  I just hope and pray that she and the rest of team USA remains healthy.  No more injuries pls!

Lots to look forward to on this year's Olympics, especially for the USWNT in basketball, soccer and volleyball.

GO TEAM USA!

I hope that BC Place would be rocking as Canada takes on US tonight in the finals.
Glad to see Morgan, Rapinoe and Sauerbrunn starting though I'd be missing one of my faves, Cheney...

Yes, it surely is!

That's why there were some fans who have been griping for quite some time now about Alex not being in the starting line-up.  I don't know what's up with Pia but thank goodness she must have had an epiphany today and decided to start Alex in this game.  And look what happened, we got to witness 2 amazing strikers playing well together, being a great combo out there.  These two really has the making of being a dynamic duo!

eta:
props also to the captain Christie Rampone!  If I'm not mistaken, she played all 90 mins each game they played in this tournament.  The oldest, yet one of the fittest...what a great athlete and leader!

They were amazing together! Alex had some pinpoint passes which Abby converted. That one pass that led Abby into the traffic of two defenders and the goalkeeper was really dangerous. It was miraculous how Abby not only came out of the collision seemingly unscathed (while the goalie and a defender were lying on the ground), but was also able to somehow score. She has a knack for that better than anybody I have ever seen. Every time I see her do that, it looks like she just gets lucky, but she still manages to score those again and again.

I really liked seeing Sydney Leroux bring energy off the bench and make some nice hustle plays. She can fly!
