Nice interview.  Even if she's "sick of silver", as the title suggests, chances are that's what she'll leave London with.  Then again, without Penny Taylor, the Aussies could be hard pressed to medal at all.  There are a few teams that could play spoiler (Russia, Brazil, China?).

France didnt qualify right? I think they could have been a suprise with players like Gruda, Yacoubou, Ndongue, Digbeu  Dumerc etc.

isn't there 1 more qualifying tournament this summer to fill the last slots for the Olympics? I'm not sure about France, but I'm pretty sure I saw the Czech Republic is still in the running....

There are a few good teams, like the Czech Rep.  I know New Zealand's in the tourney.  With 5 out of 12 going, they could have a shot.  Not sure if Jess McCormack is playing for them or not this time around though.

I looked up who's in the tourney-

Croatia
Czech Republic
France
Turkey
Argentina
Canada
Puerto Rico
Mali
Mozambique
Japan
Korea
New Zealand

I think out of this group, Czech Rep., France, Japan, Canada, and New Zealand might have the best shot at being the 5 teams to qualify.

Loved the interview. Love how our girl has grown up - and I do like her with red hair.

Turkey has a shot too with players like Yilmaz, Vardarli, Yilmaz etc.

Yes, they have a shot at being the 4th or 5th team to qualify.

Cheers,

Wasn't real sure about Turkey, but I knew they were good.  Might put them ahead of Canada.

I think I would (put Turkey over Canada). For being an indoor winter sport (in general), I'm always surprised at how Canadian teams seem to underachieve on the international stage. Perhaps it's just my perception, but some very good WNBA and college players have come out of Canada. Perhaps Canadians just prefer to support their outdoor winter sports instead? But then how would that explain curling? Wink

Fantastic interview.  Lauren looked fabulous.  I don't know why they would suggest she was 'sick of silver'.  The only thing I heard her say was how she 'cherished them'.  As she should.  Of course she would love gold, that is what world athletes aspire too, but sick of silver, never!!!!  That is one of the best interviews I have seen her do outside of Australia.
