Wandering around the Storm website today, I saw that Susan G Komen was mentioned in the "Take Your Health By Storm" campaign. http://www.wnba.com/storm/community/health.html

As a very recent breast cancer survivor and an advocate for women's rights, I  am concerned about the message of their inclusion, given Komen's recent record of cutting grant funding to Planned Parenthood and the ensuing (and ongoing -- Their VP of Communications resigned today) organizational fall-out.

There are other cancer advocate groups without such public baggage that the Storm (and Group Health) could give the pulpit to, such as the American Cancer Society's Cancer Patient Navigator program.  They certainly helped me.

Turns out the page "may not have been updated since last season." I requested it be updates without SGK. I spoke to Community Relations Dir.  Names and roles change pretty often, so I didn't know her

They have partnered with Komen in the past. 

I saw someone from one of the local Planned Parenthood groups asking Seattle to support Komen as PP still gets money from them after their about face.  This was tied to a news story on one of the local stations about how enrollment in the Race for the Cure was at record lows...like severely record lows.

Does that sway anyone more than it did me?  I am more likely to just give direct to the local PP group.
