Final score: Storm 67 – Sun 65 (W) (11-7)

Submitted by | Alison

Attendance | Close to a sell out of 9000 give or take 300.

Anthem Watch | R&B smooth at the end..not to bad.

Music | Since it was ESPN family night, they pulled out all the Jock Jam CD's

In the crowd
| Chris Daily UCONN Assoc Head Coach. Met McHuskyfan & JJ for the first time. I didn't see any of the US Young women's BB team but I heard they were suppose to be there. Lot's of Seattle #10 jerseys. There was one #15..but it wasn't me. She got interviewed by Jayda Evans... check the paper for it tomorrow... I met the girl who wore the Jackson t-shirt after the game. Lauren signed it for her during warm-ups.

Player Intros | Huge cheer for Sue, who was introduced first. The announcer held off the other player intros until the crowd calmed down. Caught the Kamila/LJ body slam. NICE!  Didn't look like a painful one.

The Game
| I'm not going to go to much into it since most of you all saw it on ESPN, but I definitely got my money's worth! The ref's... definitely had some questionable calls both ways. Simone and missing the easy layup?? UH HELLO?? Sandy vs TJ McWilliam-Franklin in a jump ball..why did Sandy or even TJ for that matter even bother jumping?? I got a little worried down the line what would happen with LJ and Special K on the bench with 5 fouls each. The crowd really got into it when they finally tied it with what 12 minutes to go? I let out a few loud "GO STORM" from my seats in the upper section. Kudos to the ref at the end for calling the right call with an charge.  From where I was it didn't look like a OF..but after seeing the replay, she definitely had herself planted. I thought the Sun's coach was going to storm (no pun intended) off the court. WOOHOO GO STORM!

From the peanut gallery
| "YOU SUCK!" goes out to the announcer who for the life of him could not pronounce Kamila's last name. Vod-E-CH-Kova. Geeze..it got so bad that I started to yell her last name loud!!

This was my boyfriend's first Storm game as well..he loves LJ's play, he thought Kamila needed to follow through with her shot and she did a better job of making the 2 when she was 5 feet away from the basket.  Ok, what was with Sue and falling a lot.
Was there a magnet under the floor and a magnet in her pants?? Boos to the old man who wrote a letter to the editor in Thursday's Hartford Courant complaining that the music in the arena was too loud..it wasn't bad at all.

Boos also to the lady in front of me who spent most of the game doing the cross-word puzzle (thinking back to some UCONN games) how pathetic?

Overheard in the crowd
| "That #15 is smoooooooth"  "LJ YOU ROCK"  and of course a lot of "GO SUE!!" The LJ craze is penetrating the state of the CT folks!!!

After the game
| While LJ and Sandy were being interviewed (I assume LJ was getting interviewed with David Locke and Sandy Brondello... maybe with the Mohegan Radio??)... I made my way down to the wall along the tunnel to catch a glimpse of those two. Sandy went by first and I yelled out her name and gave her a #1 with my finger... she gave me a big grin. Finally LJ came towards the tunnel and she tried to promise that she'd be back to sign autographs... I reached down as far as I could over the railing and yelled "LOZZA!!!!" she gave me a smile and a hand slap. That made my day. Funny huh?

My boyfriend and I headed out to have dinner (Big Bubba's BBQ kicks butt) and on our way out I saw Simone with McHuskyFan and some other fans. I had just missed Simone's shimmy and she wouldn't do it when I begged (I shoulda offered her fifty cent) so McHusky was kind enough to demonstrate what it looked like. NOW I know what you guys are talking about!!!!  BTW, the team has a 5am flight to Detroit Friday... ouch!

I can't wait for next year to see the Storm again!!!

Plan of action... pay the money for the good low seats, have an LJ jersey and a camera and sharpie ready.

If I had the $$$ I would go to all of their games. They're a special bunch and I really am proud to be a long distance fan of theirs.

Got to meet Stormfans Alison and StormnRain (sp?) and Jayda Evans! Ran into Sheila and Aci79 at the half and they migrated from their upper deck seats to the two empty ones by me in the second row 'cuz I was lonesome for some Storm love!

StormnRain was interviewed by Jayda since she was the only one in a #15 Storm shirt. As you know there were lots of us in #10 gear!  Actually, there was one other #15 Storm jersey in the place and when they connected, the  6'5" Aussie had a big smile and an autograph for her "twin." (that was one face that never stopped smiling for the rest of the game... except during "heart attack" time)

Jayda said she was out of Seattle media books, so she took StormnRain's address and promised to mail her one!  (hmmm... maybe that'll make up for SnR getting left out of the article)

JJ and I were interviewed by a local TV station before the game. He asked a bunch of questions, but especially wanted to know what I thought about Thibeault hating that we still cheer for our former Huskies. I said I became a Storm fan last year when there was no Sun... and even tho I have Sun season tix and cheer madly for them, tonight I am definitely a Storm fan!     Dunno if we made the newscast since it aired loooong before I got home!!

Poor Sue had a camera of one kind or another on top of her throughout the stretching warm up... gotta be hard to stretch the way you want with a lens right in your!!!

SF7, you're right... I can't believe they didn't "T" up Thibeault!  He has a wicked temper... You should've seen it when he sent a bottle of powder flyin' a few games ago!

We were crackin' up the entire game waiting (in vain) for the announcer to get Special K's name right. He came close on a few occasions but mostly it was. "Kamilla (4 second pause).... Vod... (another 4 second pause)... (now insert gibberish). Alison's right... it's impossible to try and spell what he was tryin' to say!

I was sittin' in my normal seats, so my "neighbor" Bob was giving me a very hard time!  Everytime I cheered for the Storm he was wacking me with the Sun Rally towels they gave out before the game... (of course he stopped this when Aci79 and Sheila came to my rescue in the 2nd half!)  Then he gave all 3 of us the "evil eye" when ever we cheered or cracked up at the announcer/#7 thing... He even tried a choke hold on JJ to try and get on the Fan Cam!!! (all in fun)

Note: those towel were chuckin' lint every time they were twirled... it was like snowin' in July!!

SnR showed her true Storm self by thoroughly defacing her Sun towel by writing GO STORM all over it!! You go, girl!!

The Groton sub base is a few towns over so we usually get a bunch of sailors for the anthem color guard and they always stay & have a good time.  At the last long time out, they came out on the floor & were doin' their thang to "YMCA"... it was pretty funny (but Aci79 missed it 'cuz she was too busy having palpitations over the game...)

We battled the Satanic Security guys so we could stay & cheer on the 3 that were left to be interviewed. Bronds was the first thru and she stopped for signatures and hearty congratulations. Birdie came next and had a holler and high fives for us. Lauren was last and had a big smile for the faithful, but she was late & said she was really sorry she couldn't stop now but would come out later (alas, we were kicked out). I felt really bad for the cute little one in front of me with a tight grip on a Lauren Gold Ultra card from last year

We waited over half an hour by the main entrance until Rita came out. Then Simone came by from the other direction and I knew we'd missed the rest of the team. But Simone was very gracious... she even did her shimmy-shake for me! wooo-hooo!! (Sorry you missed it Alison!) She had her thumb wrapped up so she said she couldn't do any autographs... but there were a few kids there so she did sign a few (albeit very carefully)... you know Simone can't resist the little ones!! And she patiently posed for lots of pictures. She has the best smile

Ahhhhh... if I had my druthers, I'd move to Seattle tomorrow! You guys have it soooooooo good  *sigh.*
