Pregame
was incredible, I have never actually watched the storm warm
up for a long period of time it was a lot of fun seeing Bird,
Kamila, Lauren, Lassister, Tully, Bronds up close was so cool
Anne Donovan holy moly guacamole she is tall
Burras got some flowers from some fans before the game, that
was really nice, but hey.. there also was a sign some fans
held up with like uconn and tennessee written on it.. not
sure what that was about.
The storm looked a bit too loose and relaxed warming up that
was my take on the whole thing, but yet they were confident
and ready to play. It's amazing to see Lauren up close,
cause I walked down to the floor and took some pictures. She
is definitely tall and was a monster tonight in the game.
Brondello is awesome, I'll get to a great story at the end
of this game report that you guys will like.
Onto shorty's fizzles and fo' shizzles:
We need to plan this better next time cause I entered on the
southeast entrance of the arena sorry guys at least I waved
to you or made every effort too. So I wave to SF7, shed, trinity,
and scowl, admin, leighway, birdjack, stormincali, didn't
get to meet the east coast storm fans you must have all been
behind the bench, I waved and I hope you saw me, I had the
L J jersey on and my hawaiian hat that was me.
The national anthem singer was awesome, that's the best one
that I have seen yet at arco arena his soulful voice was beautiful.
The player introductions were cool, everyone cheered for the
storm players and bird got some loud cheers too as well as
lauren and everyone else. Lawson got loud cheers too
when her name was called they really must like her being in
Sacramento, she definitely showed that tonight.. Okay they
announced Kamila's last name wrong that about ticked me off..
they said something like Vonickova.. I was like it's Vodichkova
damn it get it right.
The game was physical and very aggressive, but the storm looked
very good early. Then all of a sudden the monarchs decide
to go on a run and Donovan was disgusted and I could
tell, she took a lot of timeouts tonight and was furious in
the huddle, I am sure the stormfans who were sitting behind
the bench saw the look on her face. Sandy found her shooting
groove again which was nice to see and Tully either got punched
in the nose or hit because she was bleeding and left the game
to be attended too. The highlight I liked was the open
layup bird had that was incredible and her passes to Lassister,
Kamila and L J were a bit off, but they were able to grab
them.
Bird kept getting knocked down, beaten up and thrown around
out there, I saw her limping a lot on that knee, damn monarch
players that's what i got mad at them about. The funniest
thing was Lawson and Kamila having a jump ball of course Kamila
won that.
LJ was trying to find her shot in the first half, they were
falling as much as they could and the easy ones sometimes
either did not fall or she forced them in too hard. The rest
of the bench was non-existent tonight they didn't play a smooth
game and I feel the storm SHOULD, I mean SHOULD have won this
game damn it!
Lawson was on fire hitting everything, three pointers, layups
and ticha's no look passes were off the hook.
During the game:
The hip-hop crew came out in their disco outfits and I danced
to staying alive hell yeah!! Their moves were outstanding.
They were doing the John Travolta moves. yay!
What was up with those ladies shooting.. they used no wrist
whatsoever and the matching game.. wow lol.. and monty(that's
the sacramento mascot spilled cake on some man it was
funny.
More scoring from the monarchs in the first half and the score
at halftime was Monarchs 46, Storm 29.(that's a 17 point lead
going into halftime) and I am sure Anne Donovan was very very
furious!!
I was in a rage at this point and decided to go and walk around
for a few minutes and just try and relax. I did get something
to drink to calm my nerves.
Second half of Shorty's fizzles and fo' shizzles:
The bird to lassister show was quite cool and birds jumpers
most of them were following, but the monarchs continued to
pound it inside on the storm and create a lot of things the
storm just couldn't keep up with.
With about 15:55 left, the storm were only down 58-40 and
then they worked their way back into the game and with about
8:10 left the score was 69-56, then the monarchs took over
from their and kept on scoring.
Kamila's transition layups and LJ's were booyah!! I love it
when they can just make a shot as easy as pie. Yet, Ticha
and company were on fire.
LJ's monster blocks were huge!! oh my gosh that girl can frikkin'
block!! booyah!!! I loved it!! everytime a monarch player
would try and shoot, she would say nope, your getting shuuuuuttttttttttt
doooooooowwwwwwnnnnn.
Lauren ended up with a double-double tonight and 23 points
on the evening. She stayed out of foul trouble tonight and
I was happy to see that.
Anne Donovan was very animated on the sidelines, getting into
the refs face and even one of the assistant coaches were furious
with the refs too, there was one guy, and two ladies reffing
the game, did not catch their name as I must have somehow
left my program at the arena, again, my bad.
The reffing, I thought was crap and inconsistent. Where
I was sitting, I had a great view of what was going on. Some
of the calls were going the storm's way and Yolanda was furious
with the offensive foul and I think it was Tully who got called
for the charge too, but that was in the second half of the
game. I kept taking notes on what I thought was good
and bad and incoporated that into my game report, which helped
me write this tonight.
They were getting killed on the boards too, I mean seattle,
picked up their rebounding a lot in the second half, but could
not keep up with the monarchs and their passes were sailing
into the seats like there was no tomorrow. As far as I am
concerned the monarchs were playing rather aggressive tonight
and literally hurt two of our storm players.
I decided to move and sat next to some wonderful people who
were from the east bay who like storm basketball and the husband's
favorite player was brondello that was cool and I talked to
the lady and told her how I got to becoming a storm fan it
was cool. Okay, so I was sitting behind some of Lassister's
family which was cool, they mentioned that too me during the
game when it was almost over. After 3:00 minutes of the game
were left, I left because I knew it was over and done with
the storm would not be victorious tonight.
As a team, they have improved a lot since last year and I
give all the credit to Anne Donovan, she has them playing
outstanding basketball. The storm basketball team were amazing
to watch and to see upclose, I kept saying to myself.. how
tall is L J again.. oh yeah 6'5'' and tully she is around
my height, which I think is cool.

The
game was...u.g.l.y. I blame Arco for that one. Arco is f.u.g.l.y.
I'm going to call myself Cleopatra and live in Denial about
this one. Ugh.
Our passes were just weak. Sacto anticipated a lot of our
moves, plays, throws, breaths, you name it they had our number
from the get go. It was just bad. NO other way to put
it I'm afraid.
We had a couple good runs, at one point the lead was cut down
to 8 or 9 but then Sacto just fired right back up and we went
back down by 15.
AD was not a very happy camper, not at all. She was not
happy with the team, not happy with the game, and DEFFO not
happy with the refs. *shudder* Hate to be in that
locker room.
2nd half honestly wasn't any better. We tried to avoid gettin
into fights with fans, well most of us *coughangiecough* and
I tried not to get swallowed whole by the hair next to me.
Mullets. *double shudder* (oh and if I offended anyone
b/c you have a mullet, get over it. Your hair sucks.)
The rest of the weekend, however, kicked total ass. Had a
wonderful time with Admin, Ms. Admin, Jezzie, Leighway, BirdJack,
Trinity, Mr. Trinity, Shed and SF7! Mucho much thanks to BirdJack's
family for housing us and daring to have me around. I
hoped they learned their lesson now. :-p
