I'm
with Scott, no more nail biters! It's
a nasty habit that I gave up years ago, with a lot of effort.
Back to the 30+ point blow outs is right.
You know, I've never been a huge Van Gorp fan (even when she was with the Fire),
but dang. Michele, can you possibly push and shove Loz around more and
then run to the ref and complain? I couldn't believe that the refs didn't
call Gorpie for a foul. However, it didn't do her much good, cuz Lozza
wasn't having any of it.
This game was very physical. I swear that I saw Katie Smith's fist swinging
on the inside. Sass made an interesting observation today. She asked
me if I didn't think Katie belonged on the Sparks, because she was becoming so
punk-ass. Sass, I gotta agree with you.
NOTE TO ALL STORM FANS ABOUT TULLY: If Tully's not on the floor, it's not
a game, period. I told her that today and she laughed and agreed. So,
when you see her hit the floor--you know it's a game.
Rita, Rita, Rita--I am so impressed. Talk about clutch. Great game,
girl. Keep it up, we love it!
Me loves me some Alisa Burras! Her game is there just waiting to explode.
We've
seen flashes of it, here and there. Let it out! Awesome minutes,
Alisa. The woman is built for low post play and she knows how to do it. I
hadn't heard about her having knee problems. Heck, I like most, thought
she was on the IL cuz she wasn't playing well. Take care of that knee,
Alisa. We're gonna need you, down the stretch.
Sandy, well heck, what can I say. Except what I yell during the games--BRONDS!
We needed this game, badly. And perhaps, it's just as well that we won
it the way we did. Now we know that we CAN win these close games. I
don't like it cuz, well it's hard on my ole ticker and it's making my grey hair
multiply.
I loves me my Storms!

That
frickin bobblehead is HUGE! Isn't it, Tiny Elvis?
We
were waiting in line and they pulled the box with the
doll in it out to give to the person in front of me,
and I noticed how long it was. But not til I got
home and put Anne Donovan next to the Lauren, Sue and Mr. T b'heads did I realize
just how large the thing is. Good god but Lauren's head comes up just past
Donovan's shoulder, and Bird's head just below the shoulder.
Then there's the matter of
Donovan's HUGE head. Someone said they made this doll to scale. My ass. If
this were to scale she'd be 7'5" and have a cranium big as two basketballs. Not
to say it isn't a hella most def bobblehead that I love, though. It just looks
like Gulliver's Travels when I put it next to ones from previous years.
#18 Curt "Fonzie" Walker and #17 Darla what's-her-name. Disgrace
to the refereeing profession. Almost ruined the game for me just with their
missed and made up calls. But we won anyway. Ha! Nuff said.
Katie Smith punches our players. She is one mean bee-yatch.
To be honest, folks, there aren't many out-of-game antics to report. This
was a serious freakin game and there was no clowning on the bench - not even
any
humorous time outs or much of anything else. Both sides were trying to get
business done.
New Socks does the greatest bulldog imitation whenever Tully gets put in
the game. I'm gonna do it in her absence, as she went home today. Storm Fan
in Comets
Land leaned over to jezzie a few minutes into the second half and said she
was going to have to stay for Tuesday's game too.
I
have never heard of a pro team having such passionate
fans from around the country like this, who are
willing to travel to see their team such long distances.
And then bring their guests love and gifts and then buy the Storm team shop
out. And to boot, they're really nice people. I want to take a moment to
thank and
appreciate you Storm Fans Not in Washington. It was great having you here
this week for two of the biggest games the Storm have
ever had, and we love you.
I definitely agree with Tully ending up on the ground a lot. My favorite
move of hers from this game was what I call the windmill effect, or airport
runway
worker. (picture arms waving round and round in a circle). Man it would suck
to be defended by Tully. Pity the opponents! Except for the part about pity.
So, the game. Rita, the bomb. Alisa, stepped up. Simone, let the ball slip
out of her hands too many times. But she almost had her head taken off by
Michele Van Punk, so I forgive her. Just this once. Bird, nice to see you back,
girl!
Brondello has lost all confidence in her shooting. She doesn't even try anymore,
and it's sad. What happened? I wish I could help you get it back, girl.

This
game was important and the storm knew they needed to
get the job done. Michelle Van Punk as Sass
calls her was frustrated and tried pleading her case to
the refs and Katie Smith was out in the boxing ring getting
ready for her next career. She kept on punching the
players and using them like a punching bag. Lauren
what more do I have to say about this player: MVP!! Her
blocked shot, her career 34 point performance on wednesday
was huge!
The lynx did not let her get inside too much and they paid the price because
Rita Williams, Bird, Kamila, Lassister and everyone else stepped it up. Burras
is a brick!! she stands her ground inside and does it with authority, I am not so
sure I am impressed with her yet.. it may take me awhile, but the way she was
playing I'd say it was terrific! Brondello is so much fun to watch as well as
Tully! Simone's shimmy shaking jamacian dancing had me laughing and dancing.
The first half was played very closely and I knew AD was getting mad at the refs
yet again. She gets that twitch. Svet and Tamika are outstanding players and
they were working the lynx back into the game for most of the night, but the
storm did not let up on that.
I knew in that locker room Donovan was expected to be intense and giving her
team a little boost of confidence believe me.. I had the feeling it may
have been pretty or not so pretty.
First half: 31-31 all tied up had my heart racing for awhile.
Second Half: this was a different story. The storm found their groove and
their lightning bolts went on right away.. they must have been watching my dancing
moves or something Tully is a bulldog!! Her defense is tenacious!! Rita
Rita!! give this girl credit she came out ready to play! Lassister provided the
best defensive effort I have ever seen, she is always ready to bring it!
Lauren ended up scoring 16 points and a sixth consecutive double-double. There
confidence is outstanding! I want to come back again, can I be adopted by a storm
player? is that possible
Wow!! five blocks, three steals and assists! Loz for MVP all the way!
When Lauren was not finding her way inside the basket.. another player decided
it was time to take the game over: Thank you very much and I wonder who it was..
of course our own larry who? delievered her in flight specials. Her driving to
the basket had me amazed by her speed and agility! The jumpers were incredible,
I love her shot selection she takes and her vision on the court and looking for
people to pass was amazing. The crowd got into it as well and so did I!! I was
like go bird! go storm and then my dancing was back in motion again.
The reffing was inconsistent and horrible.
With about 3:18 left in the second half, I started getting nervous and excited.
I was watching Sass and all the over storm fans across the way, they were all
getting nervous. After the the free throws and the hustle plays, the game
belonged to the storm and I caught myself biting my nails like once, but then
I stopped.
Some notable celebrities which I say are worth mentoning in Key Arena: Howard
Schultz getting his groove on and the Bono look a like(who people thought it
was really bono from U2 so did I, oh well at least I have a picture with him.
I enjoyed Doppler giving me a high five in my section, he's one cool mascot after
dissing me on wednesday, geeze.. and his scooter riding was hysterical where
thank goodness he didn't fall off and kept his balance.
