What
can i say? A-MAY-ZING. Played
a good, tight game in the 1st half, ended the half up by
4 - always good to end the half up, especially against
l.a. Then comes the second half...
Don't know when it happened but all of a sudden, mrs. admin and i looked at each
other and said "Um, when did the storm pull up by 12?" It happened
so fast and so beautifully! the sporks weren't shooting well, we were hitting
all of our shots PLUS drawing fouls left and right. Many steals, many rebounds,
few turnovers. We ended up tying our record for the most points scored. and
what a team to do that against.
Everyone played and not just at the end with the 30 point lead. Sheri,
Janell, the whole team proved their worth. We are contenders, ladies and
gents.
By the end of the half, the players and coaches were just giddy - it was a beautiful
sight.
Tully and Betty must have springs in their shoes cuz these girls can fly. tully
knocked a rebound ball out of diva's hands!
Props go out to Stormfan_in_cometsland for winning the prize for "best beat
l.a. sign" - she made it onto arenavision and everything. Props also
go to sic-ko for taking part in the 1/2-time show and hitting that mini-tramp
like the wiry kick-ass chica that she is.
I
think I'll say this every time - Betty Lennox is MONEY
baby!

Brilliant! Final 93 - 67, and it wasn't
that close.
Matchup of the night: While the Storm were running a 1-3-1 zone during the first
half, Tully ended up defending LL. It was worth the price of admission.
Perhaps Betty has harnessed the Force. She made a couple of wild, off-balance,
physically impossible shots. She was B-Money indeed tonight. In fact, she was--Brilliant!
Cool thing? They gave out 3K t-shirts tonight, and they were gone by 6:15! Not
cool thing? What's the deal with the concessions? Didn't they guess that a sold
out house might mean more patrons? And why are crappy margaritas $8.50?
Lisa? Between us girls, your shorts are tucked into your panties.
SFiCL did indeed win a bag o' Storm goodies for her creative and multi-parted
Beat LA poster. But a big shout out to our Omalisa You're Fired patrols, both
upper and lower. And Storm20.04, what's up with that disco nametag in your neighborhhod?
Leighway got some d-vision facetime, which was especially nice after her rough
afternoon.
But my hero is SiC-ko. She was workin' it all game long, and when her time came
she took it hard to the hole. Brilliant! I do believe you were fouled, girl.
I would like to see the same halftime entertainment every game, but using different
ushers. They can rotate aisles--first week the ushers in aisle 104 work the minitramps,
and then take turns going clockwise around the Key. I'd pay to see some of those
folks airborne.
So, the Storm went on a 40 - 10 run. We outrebounded them 31 - 23. But what the
heck was up with the sparks shooting? They were at 37% (I think) at the half,
and it only got worse by game's end.
Guess what we got? Ball movement, baby. We were able to (pardon the expression)
weave the ball in and out of the paint at will. While there were a couple of
times passes went out of bounds because someone was out of position (once was
because Sue Bird was lying on the ground under the basket rather than at the
outside of the baseline where she was supposed to be), if we can have that kind
of dramatic and confusing passing at will while these kids are still getting
to know each other, just imagine what it's going to be like after a month or
so. It will be Brilliant!
Adia, I apologize for ever doubting you. And I take a long time getting out of
the locker room, too.
And next week isn't going to be Sheri Sam or Betty Lennox Week. So there. But
I do like me some Sheri Sam.
I was so proud to see all my good peeps out there getting some Stormy love. There
was some powerful stormfan energy at the Key tonight! Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!

What a game!! Betty Lennox!!!
First half: It looked tight. Just the kind of game I was expecting. It looked
like we were suffering from that discomforting relaxing on defense when playing
with a good lead. We almost let LA take over the game. But we hit some big baskets
late in the first half and went into the locker room with a lead. At that point
it was anyone's game.
Second half: Betty Lennox!! What more is there to say except for this game she
was "The Answer." When she got that first step on her defender,
LA might as well have started thinking of their next possession. She's fast,
gutsy, and willing to sacrifice her body to take it to the hole. She made a couple
moves that were reminding me of AI himself. She's got the hair thing going, and
is starting the tattoo thing going. Maybe she needs a white full arm sleeve,
white headband, and a few more tats.
Lauren took it to Leslie tonight. She did a great job of pretty much rendering
Leslie ineffective for the duration of the game. That and she was tag-teaming
her with Burse. Finally some depth under the basket.
The rest of the team? You can count the mistakes they made on one hand. Bird,
Sam, Vodichkova were working the ball around very well. Bird was showing how
to contribute without shooting. She was getting her teammates involved. Everytime
it looked like they were about to slack off on D, they came back with their pressure
defense. They kept the heat on LA, and put the Sparks away by the 10 minute mark
in the second half.
This was not the type of game we were expecting going in. Cooper didn't do his
post game pout. He knew he got beat, and he had to show respect where respect
was due.
Great game! 1 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
