My
initial thoughts about this very sweet, sweet win - there
are only two things that would have made it sweeter:
That Lisa Leslie had been playing and we took it to her
That the announcer would have broken in during a timeout (much
as he did when he announced next week's playoff game) that
the Oklahoma bandits have sold the Storm to a local investor
and the Storm will stay in Seattle and continue to play at
KEY ARENA.
I think I was on my feet more this game than collectively
the entire season. Was that a great win? Agree with Scott,
we definitely hit a scary lull there that needs work. Looks
like we're running some new plays through the paint and the
girls are still working out the kinks, such as trying not
to pass it off the opponents legs or dribble it on their feet.
A-Rob - omg - she was already beautiful - now, her game is
becoming a thing of beauty. When her offensive game matches
her rebounding and blocking - look out world. She will be
the MIP, and be the envy of other teams.
I loved Lauren's shoe bandaid. That girl is her own independent
self. And she is one bad ass M!!! Speaking of Lauren - were
her numbers not stellar. Blocking, rebounding, double-double,
and I'll take getting to 32 points from the FT line any time
as well. There is no mistaking our MVP. Bill Laimbeer be damned!
The tatoo on her left triceps was washed off last night. Wonder
if we'll see the real thing in time for the playoffs. She
is so emotional. You all noticed her fighting back the tears
after the game while thanking the fans for their support.
This girl loves us, her mateys, this town, and this game.
Probably thinking about what could have been this season,
her grandmother, and whether this was her last regular season
game playing front of the Seattle home crowd.
I loved how they handled the shoe dispersement this time -
drawing names from re-enlisted STH, rather than having the
players figure out who they are going to give them to in the
stands, like last year.
Why didn't Mabika and T Johnson get any playing time last
night? Isn't Temecka officially back from that surgery? She
was sitting over there on the bench. I didn't happen to notice
if Mwadi was over there but I assume she was.
Who were all the people over in the center court first row
seats near Karen? I wondered if any of them were our illustrious
owners. But then I figured nawwwww, they wouldn't dare to
show their faces after this week's media fiascos. Might have
been worried that they would have been booed right out of
the building.
This game was a wonderful way to finish out an otherwise frustrating
season. I still don't like being 17-17, but it's a far cry
from 16-18 and being called imposters for our MVP and being
in the playoffs. We also get another game at least - next
week, and an opportunity to make this a "new" season
as Sue and Lauren have said. On another note, thanks Stormie
fans, it has been fun with you all too this year. We've done
a lot of b_tching on this forum this year - it has been necessary
- cathartic. But we are still the best fans in the WNBA!!!
